What is lapping?

Have you ever wondered what lapping is, or how it can benefit you?

Lapping is a controlled sanding or polishing process process that creates an accurate finish on a part. The result is a precise roughness on flat or domed surfaces.

Flat lapping can correct surface irregularities caused by sawing or grinding. Domed lapping produces a slender uniform shape for lenses and other curved surfaces. The process can be applied to a wide range of materials.

Ultimately, lapping produces results unavailable by other finishing methods.
